- Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary for legitimate business purposes and legal compliance.
- Account Closure: Profile hidden immediately; account deleted immediately.
- Safety Retention: Up to 3 months post-closure or 2 years post-ban.
- Legal Retention: Transaction data (10 years), traffic logs (1 year), consent records (5 years).
- Support & Litigation: Support records (5 years), profile data (1 year), banned user data (as needed).
Anonymized or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for research and service improvement.
- Children’s Privacy
Nuzzl is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you suspect underage use, please report it via the app.
- Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated in advance. Continued use of the Services after changes indicates acceptance.

- Live Video Verification
To enhance trust and safety, Nuzzl uses a Live Video Verification feature for all users attempting to create a profile and use the app.
What It Is
A quick video selfie confirms your identity using facial recognition. Verified users receive a badge on their profile, helping others feel confident in connecting.
How It Works
- Liveness Check: Ensures the video is live and not pre-recorded.
- 3D Face Authentication: Compares your video selfie to your profile photo using facial geometry.
Facial geometry data is processed by Amazon Rekognition and deleted after usage and not stored.
Requirements for Verification
- Solo photo (no other people)
- Plain background
- Clear, unfiltered image
- Face fully visible and facing camera
- No sunglasses or cropped features
If your verification fails, adjust your photo, lighting, or environment and retry. Support cannot manually verify images.
Legal Basis
We process biometric data only with your explicit consent and retain it solely for the duration of the verification process.
Retention & Destruction
- Retention: Biometric data is not stored.
- Destruction: Data is permanently deleted after verification.
We do not retain your video selfie or share biometric data with third parties beyond Amazon Rekognition.
Mobile Phone Numbers collected through our Waitlist
If you provide your phone number when signing up for our waitlist and you choose to opt -in for SMS text messages, you are agreeing to get a single SMS text notification when the app is available for download in your city. We will not send ongoing SMS/text messages. Your number is only used for one-time app availability notification for your city.
We will not share or sell your mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
Nuzzl Biometric Information Privacy Policy

- Purpose
This Biometric Information Privacy Policy (“Policy”) outlines how Nuzzl (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects biometric data in accordance with the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14/1 et seq.) (“BIPA”).
- Scope
This Policy applies to all users of the Nuzzl mobile application and related services who voluntarily participate in our Live Video Verification feature, which uses facial recognition technology to verify identity.
- Definition of Biometric Data
Under BIPA, “biometric identifiers” include retina or iris scans, fingerprints, voiceprints, and scans of hand or face geometry. “Biometric information” refers to any data derived from biometric identifiers.
For purposes of this Policy, Nuzzl may collect facial geometry data through video selfies submitted during the verification process.
- Collection of Biometric Data
Nuzzl collects biometric data only when:
- A user opts into the Live Video Verification feature.
- The user provides informed written consent prior to data collection.
- The data is used solely for identity verification and safety purposes.
We do not collect biometric data without explicit consent.
- Use of Biometric Data
Biometric data is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate the user’s identity.
- Confirm that the user’s profile photo matches their live appearance.
- Enhance trust and safety within the Nuzzl community.
We do not use biometric data for marketing, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.
- Disclosure and Sharing
Nuzzl does not sell, lease, trade, or profit from biometric data.
Biometric data is shared only with:
- Amazon Rekognition, our third-party facial recognition provider, for processing and verification.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities, if required by law or valid legal process.
No other third parties receive biometric data.
- Retention Schedule
Biometric data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill its purpose:
- Facial geometry data is deleted immediately after verification..
- If verification fails, biometric data is deleted immediately.

Biometric data is permanently destroyed:
- Immediately after successful verification and not stored
